You should have said "To better praise Allah."

Straight faced, and stern.

Then again I'm sure you and I have a different sense of humor opposed to TSA agents.

Do it again.

You know you want to.

Out of curiosity, what country are you from? I'm assuming somewhere out of the states.

I wanna take a trip across Europe at some point with my Fiance and stop and see some select spots, Germany Nurburgring, actually any race track...

Any tours I can do of factories....

All that fun stuff

I believe the proper term for someone from Belgium is Belgian. In a rush I'm sure "waffles" would be acceptable...

It is perfectly acceptable to call everyone a waffle in Belgium. I'm not sure you'll get through to anyone, though. And you will end up with lots of waffles.

And I feel like just importing the car over to Europe and getting some sort of rental would be cheaper.

Kinja'd!!!0

Why no russie? Check youtube.

Importing a car to Belgium isn't cheap. I wouldn't recommend it. Besides if you want to do a trackday, i've got something nice we could use.

Kinja'd!!! Nick, Drives a Cobalt LT > lepie
12/03/2013 at 17:20

Kinja'd!!!0

But the cobalt :(

She needs to see the world haha.

It's my goal to take the car to the Autobahn at some point and see what it can do on the uncapped sections...

And then take it to the Nurburgring to see how it holds up as the fastest FWD car at the track

What did you have in mind haha

Kinja'd!!! lepie > Nick, Drives a Cobalt LT
12/03/2013 at 17:28

Kinja'd!!!0

I wouldn't recommend to drive on the nordschleife. It is quite dangerous. No runoffs, no safety, the most idiotic kinds of vehicles on track, lots of accidents, etc.

The GP strecke is a fine track, and you can go see the idiots crash on the nordschleife, it's only a few minutes away.

Autobahn is cool if you haven't done it before, but best enjoyed with some kind of bruiser like an M5 or RS6 or something. It also gets boring quick.

What did i have in mind?

See if you can recognize this car which is cleverly camouflaged with flat pack furniture.

Kinja'd!!!0

Opel Speedster?

Not sure if that is the proper name...

But my car is so much fun 300whp and 400wtq at the front wheels 0-60 in around 4 seconds, quarter mile in about 12 seconds.

And it tops out somewhere north of 160mph lol

If its too expensive I would just get a rental to take around, and see what kinds of car nice people like you could let me drive xD

Kinja'd!!! lepie > Nick, Drives a Cobalt LT
12/03/2013 at 17:37

Kinja'd!!!0

That's an opel speedster, and it is now in that garage in the background. Supercharger is on, and almost ready. Just need to fit the chargecooler and clams back on. +- 280 hp.

300 hp to the front wheels? lol, i don't doubt the fun factor. It's not going to work very well on a track, though. Unless you don't care about times and just want to have fun and lay down rubber everywhere ... in that case, it would work quite well.

The speedster is fun, and sure i'll let you drive it. Why not. Just not in the rain. They're like fiberglass gremlins. Don't get them wet.

Kinja'd!!! Nick, Drives a Cobalt LT > lepie
12/03/2013 at 17:41

My car is a Cobalt SS. And they are the best performing FWD platform ever made in my opinion haha

Kinja'd!!! Nick, Drives a Cobalt LT > lepie
12/03/2013 at 17:45

Kinja'd!!!0

Yeah.

It came with a 2.0 direct injection originally.

But I needed a new engien and sourced one over seas out of the OPC and wanted it.

Kinja'd!!! lepie > Nick, Drives a Cobalt LT
12/03/2013 at 17:49

Kinja'd!!!0

OK, so you run the same engine as a speedster turbo (more or less).

My speedster runs the ecotec 2.2 (Z22SE), which was also available in the cobalt, which is why i asked. I run the same eaton M62 supercharger as you would in the US on a cobalt. They top out at about 250 hp with the SCwithout any work. Mine's got forged rods and a balancer shaft delete. It should sit between 275 and 280. It's not a particularly good engine, but they are cheap and plentiful. They also don't seem to break (given you changed the cam chain tensioner). Also, this car weighs about 850 KG (curb weight, so with fuel, etc) so it's plenty of power.

Kinja'd!!! Nick, Drives a Cobalt LT > lepie
12/03/2013 at 17:51

Kinja'd!!!0

The supercharged chain tensioner is infamous... lmao

Everyone with the Ariel Atoms, Cobalts, Ions, and probably the speedsters too whines about them.

Kinja'd!!! lepie > Nick, Drives a Cobalt LT
12/03/2013 at 17:57

Kinja'd!!!0

Easy enough to fix, but a guaranteed fail if you don't. So many of them have grenaded because of this. It's sad really. It's not like it's hard to notice that something is wrong. It will run like a cement mixer for months before letting go.

Kinja'd!!! Nick, Drives a Cobalt LT > lepie
12/03/2013 at 17:59

Kinja'd!!! lepie > Nick, Drives a Cobalt LT
12/03/2013 at 18:03

Kinja'd!!!0

I've seen things man ...

Seen some of them after they've blown. Well, it's basicly the same thing as a snapped/slipped timing belt. Everything gets it.

Kinja'd!!! Nick, Drives a Cobalt LT > lepie
12/03/2013 at 18:05

Kinja'd!!!0

What I like about the current engine I have is if and when the chain fails the valves won't hit the pistons.

So you don't need an engien when it fails lol

Kinja'd!!! lepie > Nick, Drives a Cobalt LT
12/03/2013 at 18:07

Kinja'd!!!0

Wait, you run the Z20LET right? That's an interference design (like most modern engines). It will at the very least bend the valves. The Z20LET engines are bulletproof, though. They don't suffer from the tensioner problem.

Kinja'd!!! Nick, Drives a Cobalt LT > lepie
12/03/2013 at 18:08

Kinja'd!!!0

Mine is the A20NFT.

Not sure what that translates to o.o lol

Kinja'd!!! lepie > Nick, Drives a Cobalt LT
12/03/2013 at 18:11

Kinja'd!!!0

That's the LET's successor (more or less), it's the SiDi thing. Good engine. I'm pretty sure it's an interference design though. So valves would hit the pistons.

Kinja'd!!! Nick, Drives a Cobalt LT > lepie
12/03/2013 at 18:13

Kinja'd!!!0

from what I've heard it isn't.

I could be wrong, not many people stateside are even aware of the powerhouse I have...

Kinja'd!!! lepie > Nick, Drives a Cobalt LT
12/03/2013 at 18:19

Kinja'd!!!0

I don't know enough about them to be 100% sure. Non-interference engines are quite rare these days though, due to high squish and high lift timing.

Kinja'd!!! Nick, Drives a Cobalt LT > lepie
12/03/2013 at 18:22

Kinja'd!!!0

This is a fairly low compression if I'm not wrong. 9.5:1 or sometghing.

The people who sourced the engine told me its a non interference.

I'll look around just to be sure haha

I know I didn't bend valves when I jumped time when my tensioner grenaded.

Kinja'd!!! lepie > Nick, Drives a Cobalt LT
12/03/2013 at 18:23

Kinja'd!!!0

One or two teeth is usually fine. You can always test with raising the rev limiter 2 grand and pegging it to see if you tag a valve :-D

Kinja'd!!! Nick, Drives a Cobalt LT > lepie
12/03/2013 at 18:25

Kinja'd!!!0

My rev limiter is already at 7 grand haha so up 1 grand from stock.

Once I get the new cams It's going higher xD

Kinja'd!!! lepie > Nick, Drives a Cobalt LT
12/03/2013 at 18:28

Kinja'd!!!0

The crank and rods are forged in those iirc, so the bottom end should be able to take it. Will you be adding stiffer valve springs? Also, install an oil pressure guage. Oil pumps don't always like high rev limits and you might cavitate it. This will drop the oil pressure instantly, and very quickly kill your engine.

Kinja'd!!! Nick, Drives a Cobalt LT > lepie
12/03/2013 at 18:30

Kinja'd!!!0

I have titanium springs already.

Pricey option lmao

And I'm adding oil pressure, oil temp, and a few others that I want to.

Not sure exactly what yet.

And its all forged borrom end with alum. pistons I tihnk.

Kinja'd!!! lepie > Nick, Drives a Cobalt LT
12/03/2013 at 18:32

Kinja'd!!!0

Oil pressure, oil temp, and since it's a turbo EGT and boost.

Monitoring EGT is important when running high boost.

Kinja'd!!! Nick, Drives a Cobalt LT > lepie
12/03/2013 at 18:33

Kinja'd!!!0

I already have boost monitored.

EGT will be one too.

I want to get an interceptor with an alarm, so anything out of normal will trigger an alarm and toss it in limp mode as well

Kinja'd!!! lepie > Nick, Drives a Cobalt LT
12/03/2013 at 18:34

Kinja'd!!!0

Be careful with limp mode. Best to just force the wastegate open and dump all the boost.

Kinja'd!!! Nick, Drives a Cobalt LT > lepie
12/03/2013 at 18:35

Kinja'd!!!0

The way it works on this car (I've experienced it before...) it limits the throttle opening to 25% or less...

So its safe and you can't make boost since the wastegate won't even close with that little throttle.

Kinja'd!!! lepie > Nick, Drives a Cobalt LT
12/03/2013 at 18:37

Kinja'd!!!0

Seems safe enough. I've heard many horror stories about forcing cars into limp mode on boost. Sudden lean-out. Timing going crazy, etc.

Kinja'd!!! Nick, Drives a Cobalt LT > lepie
12/03/2013 at 18:38

Kinja'd!!!0

Yeah this one triggers the BPV and Wastegate solenoid open, and then you cant input more than 25% throttle. Just enough to roll to a nice stop.

The first day I had the car running it did that to me because the MAF didn't wanna play nice... lol

Kinja'd!!! lepie > Nick, Drives a Cobalt LT
12/03/2013 at 18:56

Kinja'd!!!0

You'd get arrested with that kind of loudness here. They'd impound the car or make it so you can't drive it until you do something about it.

How does the LC work? Is it through the ABS sensors and traction control?

Kinja'd!!! Nick, Drives a Cobalt LT > lepie
12/03/2013 at 18:57

Kinja'd!!!0

Even in a States registered car? haha

and it limits the RPM until it sees the MPH over 3 or 5

And it pulses the brakes as you launch to keep traction and stop the tires from spinning. As far as I know that's how it works anyways. Something weird. lol

Kinja'd!!! lepie > Nick, Drives a Cobalt LT
12/03/2013 at 19:01

Kinja'd!!!0

It doesn't matter where your car is registered. It has to comply with local regulations, or it is not allowed on the road.
